In Safekeeping Embroidered Heart Wall Hanging

The Silver Chains of Love wall hanging is a hand-embroidered textile object inspired by Victorian love locks - sentimental devices used to guard hair, letters, diaries and affection.

Worked onto deep velvet, the heart is built slowly through dense beadwork and embroidery, finished with a silver-toned chain and key. The locked heart and its key sit together, forming an object about devotion, possession and keeping. Love not as decoration, but as something secured.

Historically, locks were intimate tools: small, personal, and charged with meaning. This piece draws on that tradition, translating it into a contemporary devotional object - something to hang and keep close.

Each piece is entirely handmade by me and exists as a one-of-one work.
