In Safekeeping Mini Embroidered Heart Wall Hanging

The Gold Chains of Love wall hanging is a hand-embroidered textile object inspired by Victorian love locks - sentimental devices used to guard hair, letters, diaries and affection.

The work is embroidered onto felt slowly through dense beadwork, finished with a gold-toned chain and key. The locked heart and its key sit together, forming an object about devotion, possession and keeping. Love not as decoration, but as something secured.

Historically, locks were intimate tools: small, personal, and charged with meaning. This piece draws on that tradition, translating it into a contemporary devotional object - something to hang and keep close.

This piece is a more restrainted piece within the Chains of Love collection. Each object is made individually, using shifts in materials to explore devotion and posession.

Each piece is entirely handmade by me and exists as a one-of-one work.
